Acceptable behavior - me thinks not!

I recently came in contact with a large multinational company that makes millions of Dollars a day. They have awesome products and advertise themselves as an awesome company, but they really aren't. My dealings with them are always rather painful, and there is a sense (at the SA office at least) that the staff expend more effort trying to avoid work than actually working.

Where does a culture like this come from? Right from the top I tell you!! The worst dealings I have had have been with the managing director and as time passes, more and more of his staff are starting to act like him. He has set the worst example possible, and his actions give consent to everyone else to behave the same. Now the company is full of people who miss meetings, don't take calls or return messages, ignore emails, and leave work unfinished.

The lesson is that you can't enforce a strong culture, you have to live it!

God syndrome, I have dealt with a client whose retail image is great. Seems like a great company from a client point of view, wait til you have to deal with them as a service provider or vendor. Beneath this fascade is semi- organised anarchy, intense politics and a form of institutional cockiness which is scary. If you're going to hire me to render professional, specialist services to your organisation - it's costing you lots per hour so at least pretend to fucking listen and be interested in what I'm saying. Fuck, claim the ideas as your own, I don't mind, I'm getting paid, but fuck when you listen to my shit and then in your ignorance decide that your semi informed views and/or methods are the best thing since sliced bread, I have to ask: Why the fuck did you wasted my time and services and your cash if you had chosen the solution before you even engage my services. Answer: god complex. But when they fall or seriously fuck up, they crash and burn. Make sure your ass is covered by getting everything in writing cause they may try and take you down with then. Its an ego thing, when they fail they can't admit that they fuckedup and it's always easier to blame the outside party.

That is so true! I get that feeling everytime I deal with these guys, like "why the fuck am I here when they are telling me what I should do". Do they tell their lawyers what to do? Probably!
